CHORISTER

Inspired by Anton Chekhov's short story Choristers, this electronic sound piece explores themes of isolation, memory, and the fragility of human connection. The composition takes fragments—sounds and narratives—and distorts them through repeated manipulation, blurring the line between the familiar and the alien.

Drawing from Chekhov's subtle exploration of human emotion, the piece progressively transforms its sonic materials, from delicate, almost ethereal textures to more fractured, unsettling distortions. As the piece unfolds, layers of reverberating echoes and fragmented rhythms evoke a sense of time folding in on itself, much like the imagined character's own disjointed life.

At its core, this work is a meditation on loss and repetition, where each iteration subtly shifts the meaning and impact of its original source, leaving behind a haunting trail of memory and sound.
