                      WORKSHOPS

Since September 2008  Christian Patracchini has been leading workshops for various organizations and institutions.

The workshops are specifically designed for those who want to develop their practice by introducing into their work atmosphere, tension, experimental text and transforming an idea into a performance and/or an installation piece. The general area of study focuses on stretching the individuals’ creativity practice and to examine how theatre design and performance communicates to a contemporary audience.

The intention is to allow students to be both makers as well as performers of their own work. The process lasts anywhere between 1 day and 10 weeks. Strategies and tasks for making include revisiting 20th century artists and works: for example, recreate Erik Satie's 'Gimnopedie' in the context of choreography. Or take a scene from a Samuel Beckett show, remove a character from a film and re-present it.

                      The workshops also explore:

                      •  finding approaches to composition where the process of constructing the performance is apparent in everyday life and interests.
                      •  using different forms of art as a font of inspiration for performance
                      •  exploring devising non-verbal work
                      •  exploring text as a visual language
                      •  explore the body in relation to itself, to time and the importance of the dynamics of architectural space
                      •  learn how to work with little resources

Christian Patracchini is open to other ways of collaborating with universities and institutions: residencies, presentations of performances alongside workshops, developing and running new modules in collaboration with course leaders.
